The festival is that time of the year when Kagay-anons seek out friends, make new friends, and go beyond self-interests to be friends for others. It is a festival in time for the fiesta celebration of the city’s patron saint, St. Augustine on 28th of August 2014.
The following is the festival core events and activities which are the rallying points for a campaign to promote Cagayan de Oro City and the surrounding areas as an investment and tourism destination.
Mindanao Fashion Summit on August 8 to 10 at Limketkai Rotonda – 1pm to 8pm co-organize by Oro Fashion Designers Guild.
Kumbira, the country’s longest-running culinary show will be on August 13 to 15, 2014 at the Limketkai Mall Atrium, 10am. Organize by COHARA and Department of Tourism-10.
Garden Show & Agri Fair on August 8 to 31, 2014 at Gaston Park organize by Flori Cultura de Oro and Agricultural Productivity Office.
Kagay-an Festival Marathon is on August 17, 2014 (Sunday) at Centrio Mall from start to finish, 3:00 a.m. Organize by Circle Productions
Cowboy Festival: 10th Annual Cagayan de Oro Horse Show at Roa Property, P.N. Roa Avenue on August 22 to 24, 2014 organize by the Cagayan de Oro Horsemen, Inc.
Kahimunan Northern Mindanao the food and lifestyle show 2014 will be at SM City CDO on August 23 to 30. Organize by the Department of Trade and Industry Misamis Oriental
Miss Cagayan de Oro 2014 Coronation Night is on August 23, 2014 (Saturday) at Limketkai Center Atrium 7:00 P.M. Organize by JCI Bai Lawanen.
Kagay-an Pyro Festival is on August 25 (Monday) at SM City which will start at 9 p.m. Organized by SM City Mall.
Street Dancing: Cagayan de Oro Carnival which will be different this time that the previous years will be on Augus 24 (Saturday) 2 p.m. organize by City Tourism Council.
P.E. Rhythmic Dance Competition is on August 25 (Monday) at Pelaez Sports Center 7 a.m. organize by DepED, City Schools Division, DOT-10
Hegalas Parade of Floats and Icons and Civic Military Parade will be on August 27 (Wednesday) which will start at Rodelsa Circle 7 a.m. and finish at Limketkai Center. Co-organize by Artists and Cultural Workers of Cagayan de Oro.
There will be 2 Religious Processions. The Fluvial Parade on August 28 (Thursday) which will start at 10 a.m. at Macabalan and finish at Duaw Kagay-an Park. The street procession will start at 6 a.m. as the St. Augustine Cathedral. Organize by the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro and Safer River Lifesaver Foundation, Inc. of Liceo de Cagayan University.
The Kagay-an Festival last year was really fun especially the Hegalas Parade of Floats and Icons. Looking forward to this year’s Kagay-an Festival.
